The Election of King and Queen is one of the events which held by Student’s Association of English Language Education as a series of Friendship Day on Sunday, November 30th, 2018 at Auditorium Undiksha. The purpose of this election is to choose the ambassador of English Language Education. There were top 10 of King and Queen 2018 on this Grand Final. They were chosen from the newcomers of ELE through some stages.
The principle of King and Queen is 3B. 3B is the abbreviation of Brain, Beauty, and Behavior. That’s why the theme of this event in this year was “Speak with Honesty, Think with Sincerity, Act with Integrity”. Furthermore, the concept of this election was “Corsage Prom Party”. This concept was chosen because it was related to the election of King and Queen in general and also to bring a different vibe from the previous years.
The Election of King and Queen ELE 2018 was opened by the Head of English Language Education, Dr. Dewa Putu Ramendra, S.Pd., M.Pd. The election was attended by approximately 400 people, including the invited guests, committees, and all of the newcomers. There were also 3 judges on this Grand Final. They were Mrs. Karina Wedhanti, Mrs. Novita Paragae, and Mr. Wisnu Saputra. They have many experiences in this kind of election.
There were some series of events on this Grand Final such as the opening dance and opening number from the top 10 King and Queen 2018, giving the rewards to sponsors and media partners (Lahery, Beauty Create, Peggy, Padmi, Rizal MUA, Oni Florist, Undiksha Hitz, Info Undiksha), the catwalk from ELE All Stars, watching videos, the announcement about the winners on the first day of Friendship Day 2018, public speaking and group performance from the top 10 King and Queen 2018. After accumulating the score, the top 5 were chosen. Then, there was a public speaking section to choose the top 5 to top 3. For the top 3, they had to answer the questions from the judges.
Beside the big 3 winners, there were 3 categories of attribute winners, such as the most multi-talented King and Queen ELE 2018, the most intelligent King and Queen ELE 2018, the most favorite King and Queen ELE 2018. Before the crowning, the top 3 of King and Queen ELE 2017 were doing a catwalk for the last time. The situation was so tighten until the King and Queen ELE 2017 crowned the first winner. Candra Dwi Yudhayana was chosen as the King ELE 2018 and Luh Metri Sulistya Sudeni was chosen as the Queen ELE 2018. Congratulation!
The event was continued with giving the awards for all of the finalists and the winners. The big 3 winners and the judges took pictures together. Then, it’s time for the first catwalk from King and Queen ELE 2018. All the audiences gave a big applause for them. Hopefully both of them can be the role model to others and make English Language education proud. The last but not least, the event was closed with singing ELE anthem (using flashlight) together with all of the newcomers and committees. That was the end of Friendship Day 2018.
