English Sport Vaganza is the biggest sport event which is held by Students’ Association of English Education Department UNDIKSHA. This year, ESV was held from the 2nd – 4th of December 2016 which took place at GOR Bhuwana Patra and GOR PBSI Singaraja. ESV 2016 with the theme BASIC (Building Athletes Sportsmanship in Competition) held some competitions, such as Basketball, Futsal, Badminton, Volleyball, and Sport Dance. Besides, there were also 3-point contest, Hajar mistar, and Selfie contest. The participants of this event were from the 1st -7th semester students of EED.
On Friday, the 2nd of December 2016, was the first day of ESV 2016 which was started with the opening ceremony of ESV 2016. There was a report from The Head of committee of ESV, I Wayan Adi Adnyana, and also report from The Head of English Education Department, Dr. Dewa Putu Ramendra, S.Pd., M.Pd. as well as opened the event officially. After that, there was CAK Performance which was a performance that combined modern and local culture. Then, the event continued with a contingent parade of each semester in EED. Afterward, there was qualification of men’s basketball matches between the 1st semester vs the 7th semester and the 3rd semester vs the 5th semester, and also the qualification of women’s basketball matches between 3rd semester vs 7th semester and the 1st semester vs the 5th semester. The matches were won by the 1st semester and the 3rd semester for each men’s and women’s basketball competition which would face each other in the final.
The next day, on Saturday, the 3rd of December 2016, started with Volleyball matches between the 5th semester vs the 7th semester and the 1st semester vs the 3rd semester which both matches were won by the 5th semester and the 3rd semester. After that, there were Badminton matches which started with qualification match between the 3rd semester vs the 7th semester and the 1st semester vs the 5th semester which were won by the 7th semester and the 5th semester. Then, there were held a match for third place and final match which got the 7th semester as the first winner, the 5th semester as the second winner, and the 3rd semester as the third winner. The next agenda was Futsal matches between the 3rd semester vs the 5th semester and the 1st semester vs the 7th semester which were won by the 3rd semester and the 1st semester that would face each other in the final. Meanwhile, there was Hajar mistar contest which invited several participants to show their skill to kick the ball right on target goalposts. In the end, the contest was won by Praditya Dicky from the 5th semester. After that, there was Futsal friendly match between EED all-stars team against Alumni team which was very entertaining the audiences. This match made all audiences laughed because of their action supported by commentators’ joke. Then, the match was won by Alumni team. Afterward, there were men’s basketball match for third place between the 5th semester vs the 7th semester and women’s basketball match for third place between the 5th semester vs the 7th semester. Each team had shown their best to compete for each other and finally the 7th semester won both men’s and women’s basketball matches for third place.
The last day, on Sunday, The 4th of December 2016, was a day where all participants of each competition faced to get the first winner. The tense atmosphere covered during the final. The final of futsal was the first match held at that day. The audiences were very enthusiastic in watching the match. Eventually, we got the 3rd semester as the first winner, the 1st semester as the second winner, and the 5th semester as the third winner. Looking at the volleyball competition, the 5th semester got the first winner, the 3rd semester got the second winner, and the 7th semester got the third winner. Further, the competition was continued by basketball competition. Men and women were distinguished. The winner of men’s basketball was from the 3rd semester, the second winner was from 1st semester, and the third winner was from the 7th semester. Meanwhile, the 1st semester was the first winner of women’s basketball, the second winner was from the 3rd semester and the 7th semester was the third winner. The audiences could also participate in the 3-point contest where they should enter the ball into basketball hoop as many as possible. In the end, the contest was won by Gede Pasek from the 3rd semester. Besides that, the committees provided us a surprise by inviting Alumni team to compete with EED all-stars basketball team. The match was very interesting and in the end won by EED all-stars team. Then, the last competition was sport dance. Each semester denoted their best in dancing that could create an enjoyable atmosphere in watching it. Creativity is the most essential factor in order to create the best choreography. At that time, the place was filled with the audiences that supported their semester. Eventually, the 5th semester successfully achieved the first winner, the 7th semester reached the second winner, and the 3rd semester got the third winner. After that, there were held the announcement of the door prizes winners and all competition winners. So, in English Sport Vaganza 2016, the first winner of all competitions was achieved by the 3rd semester and the most solandtic (Solid and Enthusiastic) semester reached by the 1st semester. Finally, this event was officially closed by A.A. Yudha Paramartha, S.Pd., M.Pd. as the students’ advisor of English Education Department.
