Everybody can have a dream, but remember, once you dream, dream high. To my opinion, gaining as much experience as possible is my way to build my life. Taking chances to find new experiences for me is very important as Ill as useful in many conditions. Sure! Because, the experiences I get by taking the previous chances, can be a key to get the next chances to gain another experience. I can call it as chain of experiences!
Lucky me! I go to Undiksha, especially English Education Department. Here, I have many chances to be gotten. One of them is from PCMI Bali. There are a lot of EED members, who join PCMI Bali. One of them is Putu Chintya Dewi. In 2013, she lets me know about this PPAN (Pertukaran Pemuda Antar Negara) and KPN (Kapal Pemuda Nusantara). At that time, I am interested in PPAN in the first place. I could not join the competition in that year due to my age. But in 2014, I Ire ready. I started everything from the very beginning. I got my passport ready, I went to Denpasar to do TOEFL test, and I had prepared everything I needed to finish. I applied for SSEAYP (Ship of South Asean Youth Program). I did my best in that year selection but then I could not come out as the winner where I got the 3rd place for SSEAYP.
Since my failure that year, I know that I have to try again this competition next year. Seriously, this competition is worth trying and worth my efforts. So then, I did my preparation from the beginning of 2015 I decided to choose AIYEP (Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program). Since February 2015, I had focused my mind to PPAN. Some other minds tried to approach me but I decided to focus on PPAN. I did the preparation from A to Z, I did practice a lot. I practiced dancing, I practiced for the interview test, and I listed all current issues, nationally or even internationally. I really enjoyed the process. Even when the other friends of me had a lot more time to do assignments, I’m happy to do both assignments and practice all of them together.
The selection was held on 20th, 22nd -25th of May. It included Bench Interview, Leaderless Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. In the middle of selection process, I also had seminars about cultures, leadership, etc. Here, I really felt the benefits of my practice. I could pass the Bench Interview smoothly on the first day. And I moved to the next selection on the second day that was LGD (Leaderless Group Discussion) which was quite new to all the participants. Here my fluency and self control were identified by the committees. And on the last day I had personal interview. I myself got DUO BALI NINE as my topic.
Thanks to the Almighty God because he had answered me and that he brought me the glory. I was very happy to get the chance as the representatives of Indonesia for AIYEP program. By taking this program, I hope I can bring many good things not only for myself but also for people around me as well as my environment. The point is, once you fail, never be hesitate to try it again. You don’t want to stop walking once you fell down to the ground when you were a child right? Otherwise you’d never be able to walk forever. So, if you want to have a meaningful life, keep dreaming, take as many chances as possible, and never give up. Because the story that future holds can never be expected by our limited mind. Keep motivated, keep trying and keep praying. Then you will see what happens next (Gusti Ayu Dwi Susanti)
