On monday, September 3rd, 2018, there was held an exclusive discussion event on English Language Education called Sharing and Understanding TEFL and TESOL in ASEAN. This event is organized by ELE’s department which assisted by Students’ Association of English language Education and some representatives of Seventh semester student in English Language Education. The event took place at Seminar room Language and Art Faculty on the 3rd floor. The participants were practical students from Thailand and Phillipines which were 8 people in total and also the students of English Language Education, especially the students who took TEYL (Teaching English for Young Learner) concentration course. It was started with welcoming speech from The head of English Language Education, Dr. Dewa Putu Ramendra, S.Pd., M.Pd., and The head of Instructional Development and Quality Assurance institute Ganesha University of Education, Prof. Dr. I. A. A. N. Marhaeni, M. A., as well as opened the event officially. Afterwards, there was a presentation session for Indonesian, Thailand, and Philippines students to explain about Education System applied on their own country. The session was led by a moderator. The first speaker was from Indonesian representative, that was Ni Putu Wahyu Suganti Cahyani. She shared information about the education system that exist in Indonesia and their experience in college about the courses which concerned in education especially TEFL and TESOL. The next speakers were 3 representative of Thailand and Phillipines, they were Janella Saul Sanglay, Annaliza S. Samson, and Nattanit Kanung. They shared their experience about TEFL and TESOL based on their knowledge that they get from college. They also showed video that related to the topic of the discussion and also profile video of their college. After the presentation session was done, there was discussion session among the participants. They could ask freely and openly about what have been presented before and exchanging information each other. At the end, the event was closed with remembrance giving and documentation session. By helding this event, hopefully the participants could get beneficial information related to TEFL and TESOL in ASEAN.
