Rationale

English Education Department (EED) of Ganesha University of Education (UNDIKSHA) has vision, mission, and goals that are geared toward the implementation of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

The vision is “Accomplishing the goals of English Education Department (EED) to develop English education based on the concept of Tri Hita Karana in order to produce high quality and competitive English educators”.

To accomplish this vision, a number of missions are to be realized. One of the ways in accomplishing the missions is facilitating teachers’ innovation in conducting research especially classroom research which has a goal to support and appreciate teachers’ innovative ideas for conducting classroom research in junior high school, senior high school, and vocational school. Therefore, scientific activities that support the growth of research for teachers are necessary to be conducted sustainably.

Based on that rationale, English Education Department under Students’ Association of English Education Department (EED) of Ganesha University of Education (UNDIKSHA) presents The 1^st CLARECO (Classroom Research Competition) as an academic competition for the teachers in Social Gathering 2017 held to celebrate the EED’s 50th anniversary. This competition is useful to provide opportunities for teachers to innovate their English teaching which is very important in supporting their professional development.

Objectives

1. To motivate teachers to conduct classroom research.
2. To improve the research quality of English teachers.

3. To appreciate teachers’ innovative ideas in conducting classroom research

Topic

Any innovative instruction related to the competition’s theme is welcomed to the competition. Among the relevant topics are, for instance, ICT integration in English language teaching, character insertion in English instruction, and students centered learning strategy.

Participant

The participants of The 1^st CLARECO are English

teachers of junior high school, senior high school, and  vocational school in Bali.

Contribution Fee

The participants’ registration fee is IDR350,000.00. This fee is used for administration, honorarium of the reviewers/juries, snack and lunch during the final round, merchandise, certificates, trophies, and price money.

Reward/Feedback

1. Every participant will get an electronic province-level certificate of appreciation (e-certificate).
2. Top ten participants will be invited to attend the final round to present their research paper. Every participant will be provided with snack, lunch, and merchandise in the final round.
3. Each of the top three participants from the final round will be awarded with certificate of winner, a trophy, and price money. While the other seven participants advancing to the final round will be awarded a certificate of appreciation.
4. Top three winners’ articles have a chance to be published to the English Education Department’s Journal.

Article Criteria

1. The article is research based. The research should be conducted within January 2016 to February 2017.
2. The article has never been registered in any journal or competition before proven by the author’s letter of statement acknowledged by headmaster (stamped).
3. The article must follow the following requirements, namely: (a) reported within 15 to 17 pages including the appendixes (b) paper size: A4 (c) font: Times New Roman, font size: 12, single space line, margin: 3,4,3,3.

Registration System

The participant of The 1^st CLARECO (Classroom Research Competition) must follow the steps below:

1. Filling the Registration Form. Download at http//eed.undiksha.ac.id
2. Paying the fee through BRI account number (4760-01-007558-53-1) in the name of account holder Nyoman Sri Santi Devi.
3. Sending the softcopy of the article (in PDF format), author’s letter of statement, registration form, and prove of payment transfer (in JPG format) via email to eed.undiksha@gmail.com (Deadline February 24, 2017)
4. Notifying to the contact person that the article and other documents have been sent to the email.
